You can order your repeat prescription in one of the following ways:
If you have the same regular items each month, talk to a member of the dispensary team about managed or batch repeats (where we do the ordering for you).
It would be helpful if you could give the specific name of the medication you require to assist in ordering the correct medications from your repeat list. If a member of staff tells you the doctor wants to review your condition and check your treatment, it is essential that you follow the advice and make an appointment. If you require an item of medication that is not listed on your repeat, the request will have to be put in front of your usual doctor for them to authorise before issuing. In this circumstance, you may be asked to contact the surgery to confirm the doctor’s decision on issuing the medication, you will then be advised when this item may be ready to collect from dispensary or be given further instruction from the doctor.
Please note that it is NHS policy to issue a maximum of 28 days (one month’s) supply of medication at a time, this allows the doctor to ensure safe monitoring of all patients medications and minimises medication wastage due to dose changes/alterations. As such, you will be issued with one month supply of medication at a time unless circumstances such as holidays require different – this to be authorised by your doctor.
FOUR full working days notice not including weekends is required to process a repeat prescription, so please be sure not to run out of your medication. This time is needed in order for the doctors to ensure safe and accurate dispensing to all of our patients. Delays may occur if any medication requested is not on your repeat prescription list or if your medication request differs from what is on your list. Your doctor may also request that you make an appointment to have your medication reviewed. Please allow more time during busier periods such as Christmas, Easter and bank holidays.

The prescribing pharmacist will check your medication list and put them on the repeats list but we recommend you make an appointment with the Doctor or Pharmacist to have a medication review within the first month of registering with the surgery. It can take a couple of weeks for your previous records to be transferred to us from your last GP surgery. If you need medication before that, you can bring in your repeat slip and request your medication. Your doctor might need to contact you about your medication request. Please allow up to FOUR WORKING DAYS for a prescription request.
If you have an on-going problem and would like another prescription of a medication previously prescribed to you by the doctor (but not on your repeat list) you may request another prescription. Please let us know the reason for your request and a contact number, in order for the doctor to review your request.

Non-repeat medication request may take up to 2 working days to process and the doctor may wish to speak with you.

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
