Fond Farewell to Dr. Giblin


Glemsford Surgery is very sad to share that Dr. Mary Giblin is leaving us for pastures new.  Dr. Giblin will be very sadly missed and we know that our patients, friends, and carers will join us to wish her all the best in the future.  Dr. Giblin has been a Partner at Glemsford Surgery since 1999 and has worked tirelessly to provide excellent care over the years.  We thank her for her years of service to Glemsford and our neighbouring villages and wish her all the best for the future!



In line with national guidance, antibody testing (to see if you have had Coronavirus) will be rolled out in Suffolk and North East Essex in a safe and phased way.  It has begun with NHS hospital staff.  We will keep you updated as to when this test is available to different staff and patient groups.  Meanwhile, please may we request that you DO NOT ASK YOUR GP about availability.  This will help us to help you with all other urgent calls.  We will make an announcement as soon as we can.

The Public are advised to stay at home (self-isolate) without any testing for COVID-19, regardless of travel history or contact with confirmed cases, if they have:


A new continuous cough OR


High temperature of 37.8 degrees centigrade or higher



To reduce your chances of catching COVID-19


and reduce pressure on your local GP practice


during this busy time, appointments will be


carried out over the phone unless there is a


clinical need for you to come into the practice.




This will help minimise risk while continuing


to ensure people get the care and advice they


need.

Dr Mary E Giblin

MB BS DRCOG DFFP (Partner)

Joined the partnership in 1999.  She initially trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School and qualified in 1993.  Since then she has gained experience in hospital posts and general practice, mainly in North East Essex and South West Suffolk. 

She has attained the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Diploma of the Faculty of Family Planning and the General Practice Summative Assessment Examination.

Dr Matthew T Piccaver

BSC (HON) MB BCHIR (CANTAB) DRCOG MRCGP (Partner)

Joined the partnership in January 2013.  Originally from Peterborough, he first studied Forensic Science.  He then went on to read Medicine at Cambridge, qualifying in 2005.  He has worked in a variety of disciplines in both Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds.  He has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners. 

Dr Piccaver is also a Liveryman of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries and Freeman of the City of London.  Dr Piccaver is passionate about holistic, compassionate care and has interests in patient education, palliative care and the care of older people.

Dr Melissa J Williams (f)

GP PARTNER

Dr Williams joined us on Monday 20th May 2019.

Dr Williams trained at St George's Hospital Medical School in London.  She worked in the North of England for a number of years and moved back to Suffolk in 2014. 

Dr Williams main areas of interest in general practice are Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and palliative care.  Dr Williams enjoys the variety and challenge of general practice.
