Repeat Prescriptions

green_pill_spill

We are a dispensing practice.  This has the advantage that patients can get almost all their necessary medications on a single trip to the surgery.

You can order your repeat prescription in one of the following ways:

  • In person – a small white deposit box labelled ‘Repeat Prescriptions’ is situated on the left of the entrance to the main surgery. Please deposit your repeat prescription slip here and check the timetable on the deposit box to identify when you will be able to collect your order from dispensary.
  • SystmOnline – order online.  Please see the reception team in order to obtain a log in and password to access this service. Once registered you can access the system via the link at the top of this page.

If you have the same regular items each month, talk to a member of the dispensary team about managed or batch repeats (where we do the ordering for you).

It would be helpful if you could give the specific name of the medication you require to assist in ordering the correct medications from your repeat list.  If a member of staff tells you the doctor wants to review your condition and check your treatment, it is essential that you follow the advice and make an appointment. If you require an item of medication that is not listed on your repeat, the request will have to be put in front of your usual doctor for them to authorise before issuing. In this circumstance, you may be asked to contact the surgery to confirm the doctor’s decision on issuing the medication, you will then be advised when this item may be ready to collect from dispensary or be given further instruction from the doctor.

Please note that it is NHS policy to issue a maximum of 28 days (one month’s) supply of medication at a time, this allows the doctor to ensure safe monitoring of all patients medications and minimises medication wastage due to dose changes/alterations. As such, you will be issued with one month supply of medication at a time unless circumstances such as holidays require different – this to be authorised by your doctor.

If you normally use the branch surgery, you can request your repeat prescriptions from either the Hartest or Glemsford Surgery where your therapy details are kept on the computer.  Please specify when ordering your prescription if you would like to collect it from Hartest or Glemsford Surgeries.

48 hours(2 full working days)notice (not including weekends) is required to process a repeat prescription, so please be sure not to run out of your medication.  This time is needed in order for the doctors to ensure safe and accurate dispensing to all of our patients.   Please allow more time during busier periods such as Christmas, Easter and bank holidays.

Please note: dispensary is closed between 13:00 – 13:30
